About Geoff

Technologist | Marketer | Blogger

I am a technology marketer who is fascinated about the business of technology, and the technology of business. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked in both the go-to-market and operations sides of technology businesses – both in startups and large publicly traded companies. I feel as though having been on both sides has given me a unique perspective on the enterprise and service provider technology ecosystem where now, community, “openness” and RESTful APIs are such critical components. I’m interested in how technology impacts business and my speciality is marketing highly technical, disruptive products and services.

A professionally trained ScrumMaster who has built products and have worked on cloud infrastructure and software development projects, I apply the same agile methodologies to marketing – getting to market fast and iterating based on real-time feedback from customers.

Currently, I work at Juniper Networks where I lead Enterprise and Channel marketing for Canada.

Personal

I live in Montréal, Canada with my spouse Amy, my cat Pearl and my Dog Ruby. I am a proud Maritimer – born in raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In my spare time I like to play guitar and drums, train Muay Thai & Yoga, fly fish, bike, camp and hike. I am a huge heavy metal fan (I have a Lemmy Kilmister portrait tattooed on my arm…) I love sports. I have played baseball for over 20 years, which has been reduced to beer league slow pitch. I enjoy playing and watching hockey and stay fairly up-to-date on professional football ,Golf and MMA, basketball. Fan of the Boston Red Sox, Miami Dolphins, and I guess the Montreal Canadiens… (only because I live in Montreal.)

In addition to my day job, I’ve tried to remain a semi-regular blogger – haven written for Fixate.io, Sweetcode.io, Hustle & Grind, Cloud 66, OpenContrail, Red Hat and others. I am an advisor to Cloud-A – a Canadian OpenStack-based IaaS company. I like to volunteer – especially in the open source communities that I am active in. I was a member of the program committee and the MC for the inaugural OpenStack Days Canada.I also take on interesting marketing consulting projects and pro bono work as time permits.
